The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council is federally authorized and funded under the Developmental
Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (P.L. 106-402). The Developmental Disabilities Act establishes the responsibility of the Council as an agent for systems change, capacity building and advocacy on behalf of people with developmental disabilities and their families. The mission of the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council is to advocate for public policy and supportive practices and opportunities that promote the full inclusion of all people with developmental disabilities in community life.
