Funding OpportunitiesThere are several types of funding opportunities available through the MD DD Council The Council sets aside funds each year to invest in small, one-time-only projects or activities of a limited duration. The Council accepts unsolicited Small Grant proposals throughout the year. Small grant awards are $2,500 or less. The vast majority of projects that the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council invests in are funded through a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process. The Council also sometimes has a limited amount of funds that it can consider investing in unsolicited innovative ideas . Legislative Advocacy Support Fund The Council also has a Legislative Advocacy Support Fund to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members in their efforts to educate and inform legislators and other policymakers on issues affecting Marylanders with developmental disabilities. The Fund will reimburse costs directly related to participation in legislative activities for which there are no other sources of support. Each year, the Council sets aside funds to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and family members of individuals with developmental disabilities with the cost of attending conferences. Small Grants Health Initiative State Councils on Developmental Disabilities are funded through formula grants authorized under Subtitle B of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act). The Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD) is the Federal agency responsible for implementation and administration of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (DD Act). Organizationally, the Administration on Developmental Disabilities is located within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is part of the Department’s Administration for Children and Families. |
