Departing Rosewood

About the Production

Departing Rosewood was produced by Susan Hannah Hadary and John Anglim with funding by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council, Maryland Department of Disabilities, and the Developmental Disabilities Administration.

Susan Hadary, with MedSchool Maryland Productions at the University of Maryland, also produced King Gimp, which won the Oscar© in 2000 for Best Short Documentary.

What Departing Rosewood Viewers had to say

"It's a small film -- only a little over 26 minutes long. But I promise, you will be astonished at how much it will make you care about the young man at the center of the film… it will touch your heart. And the final sequence is pure Hadary -- whimsical, caring, compassionate, slightly goofy and ultimately inspirational. It's almost too much for a 26 minute film” ~ David Zurawik, Baltimore Sun critic

“The film  raised a lot of complex emotions.  I think the most powerful one for me was the empathy I felt for Steve's aging parents who found such joy in his independence and their relief that there was a place for him in the community.”

“Congratulations and thank you for a wonderful documentary.  Both my kids, ages 11 and 15 watched the program and we had a great discussion afterwards”

“Wonderful film.”

“ Great viewing.”

“ The addition of this powerful documentary would be extremely beneficial as a training tool for our direct support professionals.  The message it delivers will truly impact the support we provide on a day to day basis.”  ~ Maryland community service provider

“The Rosewood documentary was great”

“What a lovely piece!”

“A superbly produced and truly inspirational program.

"Very powerful message and wonderful story.
