Under the section, What Types of Services Does DDA Fund? please add the New Directions waiver.

New Directions is a consumer-directed system rather than a traditional provider directed system. It is designed to be an opportunity to explore a new way of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to have increased power and control over planning, budgeting, expending and managing service dollars.

Each person in New Directions will develop a person-centered plan with input from family, friends and others who they invite to participate. This plan will spell out how the person wants to live his/her life. This plan is the foundation for developing an individual budget, which will identify available funds for approved services.

New Directions will serve Marylanders of any age who are “DD eligible” and are interested in taking on the responsibility of managing their own services. For additional information please visit www.dhmh.state.md.us/dda, Keyword-New Directions.
